what’s your favorite mascara?

when it comes to mascara, I have a few requirements but one very important one.

it’s a deal breaker actually.

 If it irritates my eyes, it’s gotta go! I have sensitive eyes from long hours spent sitting in front of a computer for the better part of 15 years. there were days my eyes were so dry, red and irritated that I’d hide out in the lady’s room, trying desperately to correct the problem with eye drops. It was awful. fortunately, the dryness, irritation and redness rarely happens anymore but after so many years, it doesn’t take much to rub them the wrong way these days so I’m definitely mascara-sensitive.

besides that, I don’t like clumping. pretty annoying having to clean up a bad mascara job by gently dabbing at the smudged areas using q-tips trying to avoid further screwing up my eyeshadow for the days I wear it. not fun.

I’ve used several mascara brands over the years but I’ve yet to find the perfect one for me. I’m working on growing out my thin, sparse lashes using a product by Cargo. It’s working, but slowly and I doubt I’ll get the results I’ve been told to expect from using Latisse (which is next up on the lash review list) so I’m being patient for now. my lashes are naturally curly which is kind of a pain since I’ve long admired long thick lashes that I wouldn’t mind curling if I had to, but slow and steady wins the race, right? maybe, who knows.

I’ve used Cover Girl’s Lashblast Volume for several months now and it’s not bad. doesn’t irritate my eyes, lashes seem thick and full enough and the price isn’t through the roof. I’m not attached to it but it does the job. actually, I think I purchased it because I had a coupon so there’s that.

considering mascara is always at the top of any poll about ‘must-have beauty products’ or the ‘top three makeup items’ we can’t live without, I figured I’d ask about your favorite mascara.
