An Interview with Lucretia’s Body Oils and Sprays {+ A Special Offer}

Yesterday, I posted Five Easy Pieces all about fragrance. Today, I’d like to tell you more about Lucretia’s Body Oils and Sprays. If you read yesterday’s entries, you know all about my experience with her products. After receiving my order two weeks ago, I contacted Lucretia to rave about her wonderful body oils, {seriously can’t stop smelling myself} and ask if she’d agree to a brief interview for the blog. Not only did she agree, she was kind enough to extend a special offer to my readers….more on that coming up.

A few notable facts about Lucretia & her business

Lucretia’s dedication to quality service is undoubtedly linked to her military background. She served 10 years in the United States Army.
These days, it’s rare to hear a human voice on the receiving end of a customer service call, especially when the majority of business takes place online, but her Customer Service and Contact Me pages lists a phone number and hours of availability for customer convenience. Surprisingly, she personally answers most of the calls despite serving more than 12,000 customers world-wide!
In addition to running her business, she finds time to volunteer and take part in several charitable organizations, including Breast Cancer Awareness research and funding.
Her top-seller is without question, Body Butter! It looks good enough to eat and takes four days to prepare.

My Q & A with Lucretia…..

S7BT: The natural, non-toxic beauty “movement” has gained significant momentum in the last few years. I love that your products are homemade. Do you use any synthetic ingredients or all the products 100% natural?

LBOS: OH NO! I would NEVER use synthetic ingredients. My products are 100% natural and skin safe.

S7BT: There are so many terms to define natural beauty these days: green, non-toxic, organic, vegan, safer, and the list continues. How do you define natural beauty product formulation? What ingredients are on your ‘MUST AVOID’ list?

LBOS: My definition of Natural Beauty product formulation is to increase the levels of ‘natural ingredients’ in my formula without compromising performance. LBOS’ AVOIDS: Shea Butter, WAX, silicone, parabens, glycerin, protein, fragrance (unless you order scented), phthalates, propylene, glycol, mineral oils, PABA, petroleum, paraffin, DEA, Synthetic color, or animal products, sweet almond oil (in case people have nut allergies). OUR PRODUCTS ARE NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS.

S7BT: For those new to your brand, what one product would you recommend first? Do you have a personal favorite that you use everyday?

LBOS: I’m biased and would recommend and LOVE THEM ALL! Lol! I LOVE my body butter. I carry a little jar around in my purse for when my hands need a quick touch up, especially in this brutal weather we’re having in Illinois. The bath bombs are a close second; they release moisturizers that are very nourishing to your skin and they’re simply amazing in a hot bath. My sugar scrubs and Whipped and Creamy Sugar Scrubs are AWESOME too, and something that I use every day.

S7BT: Your brand’s Facebook page really shows your customers how passionate you are about your products, one can easily see why it takes 14 days for orders to ship. Tell us more about how you make your products and why the quality of the ingredients used is so important to you?

LBOS: Well, I make my own products in a sterilized and sanitized environment. Every bottle that’s branded with LBOS has been created and packaged by my very own hands. That’s something else I take pride in, because it’s my name and I made it; I have a sense of ownership. The quality of the ingredient is of the utmost importance to me, because again this is my name that I’m selling and if the ingredients aren’t of quality, then the product won’t be either, and I would never create something that wasn’t up to my high standards. I’ve worked too hard building my reputation and brand to give my customers anything less than GREAT products/service.

S7BT: Last question, as an Esthetician, I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask about your skincare regimen. I noticed you posted a makeup-free picture on your Facebook page and mentioned a little about your beauty regimen. Your skin looks amazing! What tips can you share?

LBOS: I have to wash my face twice a day (morning and night) with my Raw Black Soap, I then use a non-alcohol skin toner and moisturize with just a dab of LBOS Body Butter. I also make sure that two days out of the week I go without any makeup to give my face a break.

Lucretia also added that she drinks LOTS of water, all the more reason for me to stay focused on my hydration challenge. And I’m not normally one for “no makeup” photos but really, how great is her skin!

    Her proudcuts are the best. I think I have been getting prouducts from her for 2 years now and I am never disappointed! I actually stumbled across her website by accident looking for body oils. I to have the same issue with perfumes breaking me out because I have eczema. I really love the body butters as well. Not only do I use it for my body but I put it in my hair as well. I’m not very big on putting hair care proudcts in my fine straight hair, but this works perfectly for me. It’s not heavy, very light and gives it this nice shine.

    I haven’t tried the body butters yet, but they are definitely next on my list. I was surprised to see they can be used on the hair but those pictures don’t lie. I would never consider using body cream of any kind on my hair but that just speaks to the quality of her products. I’m newly natural but haven’t found my go-to products yet so I’m hoping it helps to add some moisture and shine. : )
