As I mentioned last week, I’ve worked out for the past two weeks now.
Physical activity is not my thing and hasn’t been since reaching my 20s & relocating to the burbs. Sad truth. Growing up in Chicago, I was always on the go, walked everywhere with friends. Even when my best guy friend earned his license and became the unofficial chauffeur to three teenage girls with a bevy of location-based needs, we still walked most places without even thinking about it, it was just part of our lifestyle. Of course, in the city everything is within walking distance, not to mention the energy is so different – a constant buzz of bustling chaos that kept me busy, out & about. But then I fell in love & moved to the cozy quiet way of the suburbs where everything is slower, calmer…..and my metabolism + eating habits quickly followed suit – – – – soon to be joined by pounds & pounds of weight gain…womp, womp….fat girl blues right?
So nowwww I’ve decided to do a challenge. Crazy right?! And not the self-imposed kind {like that ever works} but a real, accountability-mandated, prizes to be won, company-backed challenge. It’s a 90 Day Challenge & despite my stubbornness, it’s something I know I need and surprisingly, really enjoying so far…
I started March 15th, making & drinking the easy and delicious shakes, while not really having the energy or interest to workout. Before I knew it, 8 pounds fell off!! That got my attention but then I noticed my mood shifted for the better {aka less hormonal more balanced/happy} & that’s when I decided to add a little physical activity to the mix…started with 10 minutes of Cardio Kickboxing each day for four days before tackling all four 10 minute workouts (um, that’s a 40 Min workout!!), and then moving on to the cardio segments of P90X (Cardio X, Kenpo & PlyoMOTHER’EFFINGmetrics!) If you’ve ever completed or even attempted Plyo, you’ll absolutely understand my reference – can still feel the burn. But I’m someone who needs a lot of variety, so I’ve moved on to Zumba this week….and I have a lot to say about Zumba…. coming up in just a bit…
Anyway that’s what I’ve been up to, honestly I’m feeling better than I have in a while & find myself looking forward to trying different shakes each day as well the workouts. I don’t do lactose so I use Almond milk & there’s 100’s of easy shake recipes so I try a different one each day – so far my faves are the Butterfinger, Oreo & my concoction – Frozen Bluenana Strawberry.
Tomorrow marks my 30th day on the Challenge. Crazy when I think about it! I’m not sure how much more weight I’ve lost since that 8 pounds because I’m weighing myself only once a month & instead focusing on how I feel between weigh-ins. So far, I can tell my stomach & waist are shrinking & I feel less puffy all over if that makes sense. Plus, I have more energy, sleeping better & feel more focused. So far so good. Hell, I might even post before & after pics… who knows! 🙂
Have a great weekend!
I’ve started getting serious about my weight loss as well..
Kudos to you!
Thanks Yagyrlr, same to you. It’s been a long time coming with too many failures in between but it’s definitely time.. : )
Great success to you. 🙂
Thanks Normapadro, appreciate the motivation.
