I said I wouldn’t make resolutions for the new year, but I’ve also mentioned the power of gradual. Making gradual gains is a better marker for success. Little by little, budge by budge, day by day. That’s more my speed.
First challenge I’m tackling is to drink more water because sadly, I’ve fallen off the hydration wagon. Hard. 😦
Used to love guzzling water, preached to others about its importance & had no problem walking the talk. It’s so much healthier than quenching my thirst with soda & if I’m not careful, I could easily overindulge in soda..eeeasily. So drinking lots of water was my combat tactic to avoiding soda, or “pop” as we call it in the Midwest. 🙂
Then, sometime last year, I started drinking seltzer water & found it cured my need for soda. It’s the carbonation I crave more than the sugary taste. After a few months of steady seltzer intake, I started sampling flavored seltzer & that was it. I was hooked! Now, I’m so accustomed to combining plain seltzer with flavored seltzer, that I not only no longer crave soda but I’ve been seriously neglecting plain water altogether.
This concerned me to the point of googling but I was relieved to find my new fave is also hydrating, woooh {sigh of relief}, but the fullness created by the carbonation can result in not drinking enough water hence not enough hydration received to equal the benefits of plain water. From personal experience, I’m noticing my beloved seltzer isn’t doing the trick now that’s it winter. Think I need to return to plain ole’ H20. My skin feels a little drier now and the digestion not as smooth (umm, TMI?), so I’m taking this as a warning sign…. more water of the plain variety & pronto!
From Jan 1st – Jan 7th, I’m taking a hydration challenge.
Drinking 65oz of water/day to get back on track with drinking water regularly. It’s been a challenge indeed! I feel full, heavy & making constant trips to the loo. Not fun times. Oddly, I used to drink far more {water} than this without issue, so I suppose it’s just my body’s way of getting back in touch with an old routine.
Care to join in?
U’ve inspired me!
LOL…. is that so? Thanks

Very good initiative to drink more water because it is the fundamental component of the human body and must always maintain good hydration.
Thanks! It’s been a task but getting easier as I go along. : )
